Peter Leyden
Technology and Future Trends Expert,
Author of What’s Next? and The Long Boom

Peter Leyden tells the big-picture story about the phenomenal transformation the world is going through right now and how these fundamental changes will impact all facets of business and life. His eye-opening presentations will give you a clear view of how tremendous shifts in technology, the media, the economy and globalization will continue shape and influence how you conduct business every day.

Leyden’s career has tracked the different stages of this unfolding and profound story. He previously worked as the managing editor at the original Wired magazine that helped drive the digital revolution and pioneered the early online new media, as a journalist at several newspapers, and as a special correspondent in Asia for Newsweek magazine. Leyden is the coauthor of two books, The Long Boom, A Future History of the World: 1980-2020; and What's Next?: Exploring the New Terrain for Business on what to expect in the 10 years after the September 11th attack. He has written for many publications, including The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune and the San Francisco Chronicle.

Leyden worked for years at Global Business Network, a pioneering think tank on future trends and a high-level strategy consulting firm that advises many top global corporations. Recently, he has focused much of his energy on politics, having just finished several years as director of the New Politics Institute, a think tank that helps people in politics understand the emerging new technologies, new media and the new demographic reality of America.

In addition, the Opening General Session features the presentation of the industry’s two highest honors…the 2010 CICA Distinguished Service Award and the Outstanding Captive Award. Plan to be there for these exciting and inspiring presentations.
