Auditors vs. Captive Managers: Can't We All Just Get Along? presented by CICA, in association with ICCIE CICA, in association with ICCIE, is presenting this special session which will shed light and promote understanding about the audit process for captives. At last year's CICA Conference the CICA Board heard from captive owners that audit firms tend to send in "green" auditors with no understanding of captive insurance companies. Then those auditors demand information which the captive managers deem trivial and unnecessary. In response, the audit professionals feel that captive managers/owners are pretty much clueless about auditing and often confuse the accounting process with the auditing process. At the 2008 Confernece, CICA unveiled its Captive Best Practices Guidelinesa document compiled by industry experts and regulators to help captives align themselves with the business of their parent company or owners, develop good corporate governance to control and direct the management of their captive, and comply with regulatory requirements of their governing domicile. This year’s session will review how captives have used the Captive Best Practices Guidelines and discuss how to move forward with improving or expanding the Captive Best Practices Guidelines.
