Past: A History of Success
CICA was formed in 1972 to foster and support the development of captive insurance companies around the globe. Through the years, CICA has evolved along with the industry to offer alternative risk professionals the latest, most up-to-date viewpoints on captive insurance, and more recently, risk retention groups.
Present: Playing a Vital Role in the Industry
CICA's expanding membership is a tribute to its growing number of educational offerings and its efforts to keep top professionals informed of the latest developments or challenges in the industry. The CICA International Conference and the CICA Fall Seminar have emerged as two premier education and networking events, in part because of their unique, domicile-neutral perspective.
As a leader in the industry, CICA has also taken on the responsibility of recognizing other leaders and visionaries.
The CICA Distinguished Service Award, the industry's highest honor, was created in 2006 to recognize individuals or organizations who have made significant contributions to advancing the captive insurance industry. And in 2007, the CICA Outstanding Captive Award was awarded for the first time, recognizing creative uses of a captive or risk retention group.

With an ever-expanding array of services for members, increasing resources available to non-members, and greater cooperation between CICA and domicile associations around the globe, CICA is commited to serving the industry and our members well into the future.

In 2008, Thomas M. Jones,PC, a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP, was presented with the 2008 CICA Distinguished Service Award. The 2007 recipient was
Leonard Crouse, deputy commissioner of captive insurance for the State of Vermont.

Awarded for the first time in 2007, The CICA Outstanding Captive Award was created to recognize creative uses of a captive or risk retention group. To nominate a captive or risk retention group for the award, email CICA.
RECIPIENT OF THE CICA OUTSTANDING CAPTIVE AWARD
In 2008, The Housing Authority Insurance (HAI) Group was awarded the 2008 CICA Outstanding Captive Award. The 2007 recipient was STICO Mutual Insurance Company.
