Chief Examiner of Captive Insurance
New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance
This position will be responsible for the planning, development and maintaining the captive insurance financial analysis and examinations within the New Jersey Department of Banking and Insurance. Duties will include reviews of captive insurance company applications, changes to insurance company plans of operation, analyzing, interpreting and providing guidance relating to applicable statutes, rules and regulations; overseeing financial analysis, examination and surveillance activities; providing technical advice to peers, management and subordinates; and conferring with Department management at policy-making levels. May represent the Department at captive industry events and perform public speaking as required. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or other business-related area.
Experience:
A total of five (5) or more years must include experience in each of the following areas: captive insurance company management/regulation; the development of regulations and procedures or revisions of existing ones; enterprise risk management; the review and analysis of the financial aspects of insurer operations; or insurance audit and examination of insurer operations, three (3) years of the experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Preference will be given to candidates who possess recognition as a Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) by the Society of Financial Examiners or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and those who have related captive experience.
