Ann Flood has been named director of the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services, effective Nov. 1.

She succeeds Kevin Clinton, who was named state treasurer, according to a statement from Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder on Tuesday.

Ms. Flood had been serving as the chief deputy director of the DIFS prior to being named director. She has more than 25 years of experience in the legal, insurance and health care fields, according to the statement.

“Ann Flood is a natural successor to Kevin to lead our team at DIFS,” said Gov. Snyder in the statement. “She has been there from the start, and I look forward to her continuing that great work as director of the department.”
