Students from Butler University, Saint Joseph’s University and Temple University will compete for cash prizes and present at CICA 2022 International Conference
MINNEAPOLIS ─ JAN 31, 2022 ─ The Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) today announced the three finalist teams in its “Using Captive Insurance Solutions to Address Coverage Gaps” essay contest for college risk management and insurance students, sponsored by Strategic Risk Solutions.
The three finalist teams are:
- Katie Strohl and Blake Babec, Butler University – Craft Breweries Association
- Connor Thomson and Nicholas Vagnozzi, Saint Joseph’s University – Craft Breweries Association
- Matia Daskalos and Vincent Palmieri, Temple University – American Cannabis Association
For the CICA Student Essay Contest, two-person teams were asked to describe how and why a captive insurance company could be used as a cost-effective means of providing coverage for risks. The three finalist teams will now work with a mentor from contest sponsor Strategic Risk Solutions to revise and enhance their essays. A final round of judging will determine first, second and third place.
Winners will be announced at the Monday morning general session during the CICA International Conference March 6-8 in Tucson, Arizona. The finalist teams will also present their case studies during an education session. “We are looking forward to seeing the finalist teams give their presentations at the Conference this year! They have done excellent work and we look forward to having them share their ideas in person,” CICA President Dan Towle, said.
After the Conference, student essays will also be published by CICA’s Essay Contest Media Partner Captive Insurance Times.
