2023 CICA Speaker Form

To assist you in the preparation and development of your session and visual aids, we have prepared the following guidelines, policies and requests.

1. PERSONAL BIOGRAPHY AND PHOTO: Keep the bio brief. Include information about your expertise on the topics to be presented and any relevant accomplishments. Head shot must be high-resolution and in JPG or PNG format.

2. PRESENTATION DEVELOPMENT: Speakers must not promote products or services of their company. Speakers must not violate any copyright interest or proprietary rights of others. CICA retains control over the development and presentation of sessions, topics, and materials, and all session materials are the property of CICA for distribution and use as CICA sees fit. Speakers must demonstrate how the information being presented will benefit the attendee – value must be established to hold audience attention.

3. VISUAL AIDS: Speakers may only use the presentation template provided by CICA. When creating your presentation visuals, we suggest that you keep the following tips in mind to ensure that they are audience-friendly.
• Have no more than six lines of text per slide and not more than six words per line.
• Replace words with images wherever possible.
• Graphics are easier to read than tables of information.
• Use light type and graphics on a dark background.
• Don’t use borders or frame lines in your projected image.
• Your company logo may be inserted only on the Introduction page of the presentation.

4. CICA SPEAKER POLICIES
• Speakers do not receive compensation or expense reimbursement.
• Speakers need to register and obtain lodging like other conference attendees.
• Speakers need to pay a conference registration fee. We offer reduced rates for CICA Conference Speakers as follows: Academic $600 (CICA member)/$750 (non-member); Captive Owner or RRG $600 (CICA member)/$750 (non-member); Captive Manager $750 (CICA Member)/$900 (non-member); Service Provider $1,600 (CICA member)/$2,650 (non-member); Government Employee/Regulator $600; Media $600 (NOTE: For companies that have a trade agreement with CICA, there is no charge to attend).
• Substitutions: CICA does not allow the substitution or addition of speakers to a session without consent. CICA reserves the final right of approval for all speaker changes or additions.
• Cancellations: If circumstances require a speaker to cancel his or her participation, the speaker agrees to contact CICA as soon as possible. The speaker agrees to assist CICA in identifying and finding a substitute speaker and agrees to provide upon request any handouts, slides or other such materials concerning the preparation or presentation of the seminar for use by the replacement speaker.

5. 2023 SPEAKER WAIVER:
By signing below, I do hereby authorize Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) to record and archive on cicaworld.com my presentation(s) and any portion of my participation in the CICA 2023 International Conference, held in Rancho Mirage, California, March 5-7, 2023. I do hereby waive any and all claims resulting from the recording of the aforesaid. CICA will limit viewing of archived presentations to CICA Members and others as authorized by the Association or Speaker(s).

As a 2023 Conference Speaker, we will register you for the conference and follow up with an invoice. Please indicate if you would like to add an additional networking event to your registration.

What type of work do you do in the captive industry?
Select the category that best matches the work you do in the captive industry. If more than one category applies, select the category that matches your primary job function.
• Academic – For an individual employed full-time at an academic institution. This rate is intended for college Deans, professors or other teaching professionals. Those who teach part-time but whose primary functions lie outside of academia are not eligible for this rate.
• Captive Manager – For those whose primary job duties are administering or managing a captive insurance company or risk retention group on behalf of a Captive Owner. A Captive Manager is typically registered or approved by a domicile to maintain the financial books and records of the captive or risk retention group.
• Captive Owner – For those whose primary job duties are as a risk manager and/or owner of a captive insurance company or risk retention group. This category is intended for a direct employee of the captive’s parent company or affiliated company with the primary job function of operating and managing the captive.
• Government Employee / Regulator – Intended for government employees such as regulators.
• Media – For members of the working press including writers, editors, producers and publishers interested in the captive and risk retention industry.
• Service Provider – For those who provide business services to captive insurance companies, risk retention groups or the designated representative of an owner.

2023 Conference Waiver for Attendees

You must agree to this waiver to attend the CICA 2023 International Conference in person.
• I understand and acknowledge that travel to and attendance at the CICA 2023 International Conference (the “Conference”) may increase my risk of exposure to communicable diseases. I understand and acknowledge the contagious nature of communicable diseases and assume the risk of exposure to or infection by attending the Conference. If Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requirements for events are in place at the time of the CICA conference, I agree to comply with the guidelines.
• I understand CICA will be taking photographs at the conference, which may be used in CICA publications or on our website. I will notify CICA in writing if I choose to not have my photo used in publications.

Your head shot will be used to promote the CICA Conference. Your head shot and bio will be published in the CICA mobile app which is available to Conference attendees only.
