Mar 01, 2018

MINNEAPOLIS ─ The Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA) announced today that Julie Mix McPeak, president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), will be attending the CICA International Conference Monday, Mar. 12 at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Med_size_NAIC_Pres_McPeak“We are excited to have NAIC President Julie Mix McPeak join us at CICA’s International Conference,” said Dan Towle, CICA president. “Her participation is a compliment to how far the captive industry has come. CICA brings together top regulators and thought leaders from around the globe.  Her participation is a wonderful development for the captive insurance industry and we look forward to welcoming her,” said Towle.

President Mix McPeak will provide brief remarks at the opening session on Monday morning and will meet privately with U.S. and international regulators.

“As the president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners and commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Commerce & Insurance, I want captive insurance regulators and industry representatives to understand that regulators are increasingly aware of the role captive insurance plays in the global insurance marketplace,” said Mix McPeak.

“This year’s conference focuses on addressing the challenges of change, which starts with sharing great ideas and our education program is set to deliver those new ideas,” Towle explained. The education program includes a new professional development track; presentations involving over 80 speakers from all sectors of the industry, including a first time presentation by CICA’s partners from the European Captive Insurance and Reinsurance Owners Association (ECIROA); and sessions on topics ranging from how health care captives are helping companies contain costs to insurance coverage for emerging technologies.

Today’s risk management challenges are increasingly being addressed with captive insurance and the captive industry now represents $165 billion in gross written premium.  Under CICA’s domicile neutral umbrella, the CICA Conference creates a unique and engaging environment for over 500 captive insurance representatives, risk managers and service providers from around the world to gather for insightful and productive education and networking opportunities.

For Information on the conference program, travel and registration fees, visit the CICA Conference website. Online registration closes at 12 noon, Central Time, Tue., Mar. 6.
