MINNEAPOLIS ─ MARCH 14, 2024 ─ Mary Ellen Moriarty, vice president for property & casualty, EEIA, will Chair the Board of Directors of the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA).

Moriarty has been actively engaged in the insurance industry for over 30 years. Her experience includes positions with national insurance brokerages and commercial insurance carriers. At EIIA Moriarity focuses on the higher education industry. A CICA member for over 10 years, Moriarty has served on the Amplify Women™ Committee and Board of Directors. In 2022 Captive Review recognized Moriarty for her active volunteerism and contributions to the captive industry with a listing in its Power 50: Hall of Fame.

“The need for the captive insurance vehicle has never been as important as it is today which will continue the rapid growth for CICA and the captive insurance industry. I look forward to working with my board colleagues and our volunteer leaders to continue CICA’s vital role in providing networking and education to support innovation and best practices to enhance industry growth. And we will continue to raise awareness and advocate for our industry while also being prepared to defend against potential threats,” Moriarty said.

In addition to Moriarty, the board elected Heather McClure, general counsel and chief risk officer, Helio, as Vice Chair; and Prabal Lakhanpal, senior vice president, Spring Consulting, an Alera Group Company, as Secretary/Treasurer. Nick Hentges, CEO, Captive Resources, LLC, serves as the Immediate Past Chair.

Returning CICA board members are Courtney Claflin, head of insurance, Fluid Truck; Colin Donovan, president, STICO Mutual Insurance Company, a Risk Retention Group; Deyna Feng, director of captive programs, Cummins Risk International; and Udo Kappes, director, RWE AG-Germany

New board members are Anjanette Fowler, PNC Institutional Asset Management, and David Beyer, Alaska Airlines.
