As a non-profit organization, CICA relies on membership dues to achieve our efforts in being a premier resource and association for the captive insurance industry. Our dedication to advocacy, providing the foremost education, sharing industry trends and knowledge, and championing initiatives for the next generation, diversity, and women leaders all play an imperative role in the captive insurance arena and are made possible by the member dues and support of our members and partners.
As a prospective CICA member, please note when reviewing membership categories, you will select the role that best fits your individual daily job. Service Providers or Captive Managers who provide services for the captive industry or whose company has a captive do not qualify for the captive owner member type.

Captive Owner
Captive Owner/Risk Retention Primary Member—$935 For a full time professional employed as a risk manager or whose daily responsibilities include operating and managing their organization’s captive or risk retention group (RRG). This membership is appropriate for a risk manager who is considering forming a captive or RRG. This category is NOT intended for captive managers or service providers who sit on the board of a captive or RRG or whose company has a captive.
- Captive Owner membership includes voting rights.
- Captive Owner membership includes two affiliate members at no extra cost.
- Each additional affiliate is $495. Please see Affiliate description below.
Captive Owner/Risk Retention Affiliate Member—Free For an individual employed at a company that has another individual with a paid Captive Owner/Risk Retention Primary member.
- Affiliate members do not have voting privileges.
- Affiliate members can only join if they have another colleague with a paid primary membership.
- Captive Owner Primary membership includes two affiliate members at no extra cost. Beyond two, the cost is $495 per Affiliate membership.

Captive Manager
Captive Manager Primary Member—$935 For an individual whose primary job duties include administering or managing a captive insurance company (or risk retention group). A captive manager is registered or approved by a domicile to maintain the accounting and compliance requirements of the captive’s (or risk retention group’s) domicile.
- Captive Manager membership includes voting rights.
- Captive Manager members may add affiliate members for $495. Please see Affiliate description below.
Captive Manager Affiliate Member—$495 For an individual employed at a company that has another individual with a paid Captive Manager Primary member.
- Affiliate members do not have voting privileges.
- Affiliate members can only join if they have another colleague with a paid primary membership.

Service Provider
Service Provider Primary Member—$2,310 For an individual who provides business services or products to captive insurance companies or risk retention groups. For example, you are a broker, underwriter, consultant, attorney, accountant, investment professional, an actuary.
- Service Provider members do not have voting privileges.
Service Provider Affiliate Member—$440 For an individual employed at a company that has a Service Provider Primary member.
- Affiliate members do not have voting privileges.
- Affiliate members can only join if they have another colleague with a paid primary membership.

Academic & ACI
Academic Primary Member – $550 For an individual employed full-time at an academic institution. This rate is intended for college deans, professors or other teaching professionals. Those who teach part-time and whose primary functions lie outside of academia are not eligible for this rate.
- Academic members do not have voting privileges.
- Academic membership includes two affiliate members at no extra cost. Each additional affiliate is $495. Please see Affiliate description below.
Academic Affiliate Member – Free For an individual employed at an institution that has another individual with a paid Academic Primary member.
- Affiliate members do not have voting privileges.
- Academic membership includes two affiliate members at no extra cost. Beyond two, each additional affiliate membership is $495.
ICCIE ACI Recipient Member – Free For an individual who has successfully earned the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) Associate in Captive Insurance (ACI) designation. Read more details here.
ICCIE Membership
CICA has supported the International Center for Captive Insurance Education (ICCIE) with a financial contribution since 2009. We are pleased to announce an expanded partnership to support recent ACI recipients in their continuing education goals. Individuals who receive their ICCIE ACI designation on or after January 1, 2018 are eligible for a free 1-year CICA Membership.
