Chansky, McElhiney and Towle recognized for serving and protecting the captive industry

MINNEAPOLIS ─ Captive Review’s 2018 Power 50 and Hall of Fame lists, announced this week, include the Captive Insurance Companies Association’s top three leaders, Joel Chansky, Steve McElhiney and Dan Towle. 

“This recognition of CICA’s top leaders reflects the expertise and active leadership they provide to the organization. It also acknowledges CICA’s growing influence on issues affecting the entire industry. Whether addressing external threats, developing best practices, or engaging the next generation of captive professionals; CICA is delivering,” said CICA President Dan Towle. 

Joel Chansky, CICA board chair, and consulting actuary at Milliman, joins fellow CICA board member Robert “Skip” Meyers, partner, Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP, in the Hall of Fame. With more than 30 years of experience in the industry, Chansky was recognized for his expertise in captive formations and ongoing actuarial needs of captives. His dedication and many contributions over the years were described as “a leading light for fellow professionals.”

Steve McElhiney, CICA board vice chair, and president of Tall Pines Insurance Company/CEO and chairman, EWI Re. was #31 on the Power 50 list. McElhiney was recognized for his “extensive experience in insurance company financial issues,” along with his growing influence on evolving issues within the industry.

Dan Towle, CICA president, and #15 on the Power 50, made his fourth consecutive appearance on the list. Towle, was recognized for “actively fighting on behalf of the industry in what has been a tricky year across the globe,” and for proactively planning strategies to address issues that threaten the industry.

The Power 50 list focuses on individuals who have been the biggest “movers and shakers” in the captive insurance industry over the past 12 months and who will continue to influence the industry’s direction and progress in the future. Hall of Fame inductees are recognized for contributing to industry growth by continually finding ways to innovate and overcome challenges.
